Our safety and training courses help paddlers gain the skills and knowledge they need to enjoy their time on the water.

Basic Recoveries Course

This course teaches wet exits/assisted & tandem recovery/swimmer recovery.   Click here to go to the Delta Leisure Guide for times and registration information.

Participants who demonstrate competence in a self-rescue strategy will be certified by KAT for solo paddles.

Introduction to Kayaking First Strokes

Don't know your front stroke from your front sweep?  Want to paddle more efficiently?  Learn the introductory strokes and information you need to enjoy safe kayaking in calm conditions.

Contact KAT for times and course costs.

Rolling/Bracing Clinic

Learning an effective roll will improve your confidence on the water.  (And it's fun too!)  In this intro clinic you will learn low and high braces and the fine art of balancing or edging your boat for greater maneuverability and control.  In the follow-up pool sessions you will be introduced to a progression of exercises that lead to rolling your boat.
